The Gold Standard is Massimo Scognamiglio’s latest production and his most important painting cycle: six works in which figures, rooms and gold measure human presence.

A new measure for Scognamiglio’s painting.
The Gold Standard brings Massimo Scognamiglio’s practice to a radical synthesis. The weave of the canvas remains visible as solitary bodies, chairs and spare lines form spaces suspended between interior and infinity.
Gold is not decoration: it introduces light, value and conflict. The psychological figure and the mental room, key references in Scognamiglio’s art, return through a reduced language able to hold time.
