Primo Round brings together a group exhibition at Studio Campo Boario in Rome devoted to boxing, understood not only as a sport but as body, ritual, conflict and representation. I am presenting I’m so tired (2026), a photograph made with artificial-intelligence interventions.
Excerpt from the critical text
“Under the title Primo Round, a group of artists gathered in Rome, in Alberto D’Amico’s studio (via del Campo Boario, no. 10 – opening on 15 October 2026), presenting a varied group exhibition of works on the theme of boxing.
The studio is a multifunctional space that has been open to exhibitions since 1991. The ten friends sharing this event – in my experience, one can only hope that they will still be friends by the end of the exhibition! – cannot be traced back to a similar poetic intention, gathered under the same aesthetic banner, or placed within a single programme.

In I’m so tired (2026), a photograph created with artificial-intelligence interventions, Massimo Scognamiglio depicts a female boxer with the intention of overturning masculine and feminine codes: a polished image in which the boxer smokes and wears hand wraps and one glove. Her hair dishevelled, she lowers her head into a cloud of smoke as if seeking rest after the fight; and shows us – as ever, a public of voyeurs – her involuntarily erotic nudity.”
Working with nudity beyond the filters
“To make this work, I used experimental, non-commercial artificial-intelligence models that allowed me to work with nudity. Today this kind of research is almost completely blocked: AI, like social media and much of the online world, does not distinguish artistic research from pornography.”
Primo Round
The exhibition opens on Thursday 15 October 2026 at 6 pm and continues until 31 October at Studio Campo Boario in Rome. The event is part of the official Rome Art Week 2026 programme.
